I really like to learn. That's why I spent five years in college and got two degrees and four minors. That's also why I tutored for so long; although it doesn't seem like it, I feel like I learned more
while tutoring than I did in a classroom. My love for reading also lends itself to my appetite for learning. The need to explore lead me to the realm of programming. It all started with wanting to program
an
RPG. First I started programming in Java, which lead to a class in Java, which lead to installing Ubuntu (8.04 was the first one I installed,
if memory serves me), which lead to etc., etc. (you can see a snowball effect starting). Through the years I would always try to do small projects or interesting things such as a fractal generator or programming
the
Game of Life, things that sparked my imagination and challenged me to delve deeper in to programming.
I eventually decided programming would be a good career path, so I joined the Service Desk at the OCIO. While there I learned more about the OCIO and I kept on programming; I even developed a Secret Santa program
for the annual Christmas get-together. After nine months there, I applied to become a part of the ITSM Tool Team at the OCIO, the team responsible for managing, maintaining, and innovating on OSU's ServiceNow platform. I was happy
to accept that position as a Systems Developer/Engineer in January of 2014 and from there it has been a whirlwind of fun and programming.
Outside of working, I love goofing around with my servers. I've recently purchased an old SuperMicro and a Dell 2950 and very excited to set them up along with my old Dell desktop. I recently finished my homemade server rack
and I'm very excited to put my servers, UPS, modem/router, and gigabit switch and set everything up!
